I grew up in the U.S. raised by my single mother, and always had a belief to build and own a unique restaurant operation. Along the way support has never been easy. Of course family wants to see their sons and daughters succeed, but I was brought up to believe that working for a company and having safety and stability was the correct path.
That idea though never sat particularly well with me, as I always wanted to take the risk and succeed. I have never been set back by obstacles or hardships, a point I learned early on having to overcome a hearing impairment from a young age.
Now with Broken Rice, the opportunity to pursue that entrepreneurial opportunity and quench that spirit inside me is possible. Sure there are doubters, but that just drives me to work even harder. Along the way I hope that I can inspire other Asian-Americans to go after their destiny!
Broken Rice will become a reality and succeed, because of my energy, but also due to experience and commitment. I have spent my career thus far in restaurant supervision and management, and also bring academic credentials to the table. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Hospitality Management and Entrepreneurship, from the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona in 2011.
